About Our Forecasts & Our Forecaster - By Chas Myers

I have always had a fascination with the weather, in fact it started off as schoolboy with a fascination of snow and trying to find out if I was going to get a day off school! Through the early eighties, cold and snowy winters and many days off school due to our bus route being blocked in rural Shropshire, heightened this interest. At home during this period, I recorded one of the lowest temperatures seen in the UK in December 1981, with a temperature of -26C! I studied Physical Geography at Aberystwyth University, which had some interesting weather and climate related courses and my 2 main projects were on the history and trends of snowfall in Wales and windflow patterns in the Abersoch area (useful for a windsurfing addict).

I am not a qualified professional meteorologist, however, I hope my daily forecasts can provide a useful local bias on the more general area forecasts issued by the media, Met Office and computer generated forecasts. I use a variety of sources of information to produce the daily forecast and sometimes I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong, however, I often get excellent feedback locally, which is a good sign!
