Some quieter weather for Abersoch over the last few days has been very welcome after the recent storms. John captured the tranqulity of the bay, under a full moon, with this spectacular night-time shot, with a back drop of the mountains of Snowdonia.

Storm Barra made an impact on the area with winds gusting in excess of 85mph in the local area. The storm coincided with some spring tides, which resulted in a strorm surge and the local sea defences took a battering from the waves. This is the harbour beach, with a wall protecting the sea front properties from the power of the waves.

A lovely Sunday morning shot from John this week, taken just before sunrise with an offshore wind blowing, bringing shelter close inshore. A local crab boat had just gone past and the Abersoch year round "dunkers" were enjoying the chilly water just around the corner from where the photo was taken.

There has been a large amount of rain over the last few days in the Abersoch area, leading to road closures, which has included the main road between Llanbedrog and Pwllheli. There have been brighter moments and John captured this one from the inner harbour, looking across to the moorings and boat storage yards of Lloyd-Jones and McGill. The bright blue building centre left is Abersoch Land and Sea powerboats.

A view of Porth Neigwl, taken from the Rhiw end of the beach by Treheli Farm is this week's photo from John. Porth Neigwl faces southwest and often sees surf conditions, hence its popularity with surfers! The cliffs along the beach often experience landslides - due to a combination of erosion by the sea and from rainfall.

The first day of a new month was fine in Abersoch, with bright and breezy weather and John took this shot looking down towards the links of Abersoch golf course and the main beach. The first post-lockdown bank holiday weekend began with sunshine and the chilly wind did not deter the many visitors to the main beach, with sheltered spots feeling pleasantly warm. St. Tudwal's Island West is the subject of this week's photo from John, showing the work under way on a new slipway for the island. Despite it being another chilly weekend, the strength of the sunshine in April does mean that sheltered spots do become nice and warm. An example of such a spot, when the wind is from the north, is the W & G Williams beach huts end of the main beach. John's photo this week is of that end of the beach also showing the flag at SCYC flying at half mast and you can just see some snow on the top of Snowdon.

The recent spell of cold weather also saw strong winds from an easterly quarter and these onshore winds have scoured the sand from the main beach. The amount of sand which has been taken can be seen on this week's photo from John. Abersoch and Pen Llyn have been battered by winds gusting in the vicinity of 60mph over the last couple of days. Another beach hut photo from John this week. This one is from much further up the beach, near to the Lon Golff slipway and shows a very high spring tide.
