On Friday 26th of June The Coconut Kitchen will be showcasing the exotic delights of Thailand’s street food. There will be a traditional Thai street BBQ stationed outside the restaurant with one of their chefs cooking gai satay (chicken satay), moo ping (pork skewers), nea ping (beef skewers), tod man ping (lemongrass fish sticks) and sai oowah (spicy Chiang Mai sausage). While in the kitchen May and the rest of her team will also be cooking kiew tod (crispy prawn wontons), steamed knom jeeb (dimsum), po pia tod (vegetable spring roll) and hoy jooh ( crab and pork in crispy beancurd sheets). Also on offer is the traditional noodle dish, knom jeen - rice noodles served with either gaeng kiaw wan (green chicken curry) or nam ngiaw (a Northern Thailand spicy tomato and pork sauce) and som tam talay (Thailand’s famous papaya salad with seafood) - and much more!

Attractions for the evening:

· A mini night market with a couple of market stalls selling traditional Thai crafts and interesting works of art. Abersoch lifeboat will also have their own market stall.

· A release of traditional Thai sky lanterns (Khoom Loy) across the harbour which the sun sets. Traditional Northern Thai (Lanna) people use Sky Lanterns all year round, for Spiritual celebrations and other special occasions. It is considered good luck to release a 'Khoom Loy', as many Thai people, especially Buddhists, believe they are symbolic of your problems and worries floating away.

· If she gets enough encouragement Lilly, their Aussie waitress from Byron Bay, will be treating us to a display of her fire dancing skills, something usually seen at the full moon parties on Koh Phang Ngang. Hopefully this will take place sometime after 10pm or when its dark enough!

The night will be held with the aim of raising funds for the Abersoch Lifeboat. So for every bottle of Singha (Thai beer) sold £1 will be donated for every sky lantern sold £2 will be donated.

So why not and experience a different kind of evening at The Coconut Kitchen, there will be seating available inside or outside but they won't be taking bookings. So with the weather forecast looking hotter, the taste of Thailand will definitely be in Abersoch for the night!

The evening will begin at 5.30pm till late. Their usual menu won’t be in operation so normal takeaway service will not be offered on the night.
